a facebook 'how to'... feature your favourite pages.

did you know that you can feature your favourite 'liked' pages on your facebook page's timeline?

your featured pages appear in the 'likes' box on the right hand side of your timeline.  up to five pages are randomly shown at a time and you can specify which of your 'liked' pages always rotate there by selecting them as featured.

your eyes are fine, it's the screen shot that is a bit blurry.... :-)

here is how it is done...

1. use facebook as your page
2. if you haven't already 'liked' the page you want to feature, visit that page and click 'like' 
3. return to your page and open the admin panel
4. click manage
5. select edit page
6. select featured from the left sidebar menu
7. click edit featured likes
8. choose pages you'd like to feature
9. click save

voila!

useful...?  i'm interested to know if you'd take the time to manage this feature or not so please let me know.  i'm thinking of pick 5 every fortnight, better go set a reminder....

Update 18 June 2012:  this process has changed slightly, here is the new how to instructions.


1. use facebook as your page
2. if you haven't already 'liked' the page you want to feature, visit that page and click 'like' 
3. return to your page and show the admin panel
4. click arrow next to edit page 
5. select update info
6. select featured from the left sidebar menu
7. click edit featured likes
8. choose pages you'd like to feature
9. click save

ok, posting from google+ to CERIosities blog worked technically but there are limitation you should consider.  details can be found here.

the other option is to do the reverse, post automatically from blogspot or blogger to google+ .  let's give this a try following these instructions.  again, they are simple and easy to complete.

done!  once the post is successfully published i should be presented with a google+ share box.  here it goes...

ps. apparently google blogs is going to be the new name for blogspot and blogger....

yippy! very please to tell you this works a charm!

~ it is very easy to set up. 
~ it quickly posts to google+ once published in blogspot
~ the google+ share window allows you to add a comment if you wish
~ hint | to select an alternate thumbnail, hover mouse over the thumbnail in the google+ share window, a black bar will appear at the top, use arrows on the left of bar to scroll through available thumbnails. only just figured this out.... :-)

for my social media strategy it really is the perfect solution, hopefully it will be of some use to you also!
