little rays of sunshine on an otherwise rainy day.....

02 December 2010

these look like little floating jellyfish to me.  i stopped to admire them on my walk to the shops, it's actually petrol or oil that has leaked from a car onto the road, the heavy rain has caused it to run and the result being these beautiful designs on the pavement. amazingly they had been washed away upon my return home.  i have captured a moment in time that no longer exists, so kool!  sure hope the car made it home ok.....

this interesting house, i walk past most days.  i love how it's unique and quirky design looks from this angle with the small window at the bottom, the only one that is painted white.  and the pattern from the water running down the wall  is a delightful addition to the two tone painting making it seem like a work of art.

lastly a walk pass our friendly local hardware shop which always has something interesting on it's chalk board, today it was a list of books that made me giggle:

'computer memories' by meg abight
'exploring the dutch frontier' by will der-ness
'the yellow stream' by i p daley

so, thank you rain for all the wonderful treats you bring with you...

and then this happened....

18 November 2010

for my birthday i got  keri smith's box set which includes the following books: 'mess', 'this is not a book', 'wreck this journal'.

the set is perfect, it's brand new, each page is perfect, it smells new, it feels new, looks perfect all neatly bundled sitting on the table where i can i admire it's perfection. starting to get the hint....  my 'perfectionist' is in her glory.

i took the set away for the weekend, excited by all the experiments [creative destructions] i was reading about, flipping through the pages ever so carefully, still in awe of it perfectness and then i found this on the beach ...

 clay!

it sqwished through my fingers, i could sqeeze it, it felt cold and crunchy at first then it softened up and became smooth. then this happened!!!!

my 'perfectionist' was not thrilled.. hee hee.  the instructions for this experiment: 'smear something with your hands purely for the tactile sensation'.  and so i did!  i made a mess in my 'mess' book and it felt fantastic!!!!

i'm so glad i was aware of the 'tug-of-war' going on between perfection and creative destruction, it was very interesting.  i'm also grateful for the subtle shifts in mindset that are also taking place since letting go a little of some restrictive thinking.  and of course making more of a mess and wrecking my journal.... :-)

it's kind of like expanding my comfort zone rather than stepping out of it......

fallen tulip petals

27 October 2010

david bought me some beautiful tulips, which i admired all day, everyday. thx my luvvy xo  i just love having fresh flowers around me unfortunately they don't last forever.

the fallen tulip petals are way to pretty to throw out, so i enjoyed them even longer by keeping them in different forms....

aren't the colours simply stunning!

so, be mindful before you throw something out and perhaps there is a way to reinvent it. you never know what ideas you might come up with....

here and now | giggle

22 October 2010

this company's sign [image below] caught my eye and made me giggle out loud. just hope i look as cute as momiji [above] when i giggle.

as sense of humour goes it is very subjective, i know that from the blank stares i tend to get sometimes :-) and that is totally ok.  it would be so boring if we were all the same.....

but there is more to it than just the humour.  it was a specific moment in time and a giggle that brightened my day.  i wouldn't have experienced that, had i not been attentive right there and then......

'wilton tree solutions', 'wilton' sounds like 'wilting'... specialising in 'tree' solutions... yes it still makes me smile!

the point is not whether you 'get it' or if you are as enthusiastic as i am about the humour in it, just be attentive to what is in your here and now and i'm sure you'll find something to brighten your day even more also.

enjoy your weekend!
