what's heaps more fun than op shopping...?

14 March 2012

a giant neighbourhood garage sale!

on this weekend, saturday 17 march from 9am to 2pm
in birchgrove, balmain and balmain east.

'Leichhardt Council runs SecondHand Saturday (SHS) - a giant neighbourhood garage sale held in individual households. SHS enables residents to participate in a program that promotes the value of resource conservation and reduced waste to landfill.

Reusing products is better than recycling. Recycling still requires the use of precious resources like water and energy for remanufacturing. Reusing gives a product a longer life, saves resources and can be of value to someone else, once it is no longer of use for its original owner. '

there are over 70 registered participants with additional pop-up garage sales occurring on the day. download the list of garage sales from here, and on saturday morning grab a coffee *, pull up maps on your phone or set the gps, feel the thrill of hunting down a bargin kick in, meet interesting and friendly people and have a blast!  there is a wide range of items for sale and they are priced to sell!  it's like a treasure hunt... :-)

be sure to visit me and my 3 of my lovely neighbours
at the end gow street in birchgrove.

* for coffee i recommend true religion 2/415 darling street, balmain.  summer and lisa would love for you to pop in and say hello!

394 pairs...

12 March 2012

what do you do with your old running shoes...?  i always keep one pair of old running shoes for all for dirty jobs or walks in the rain, or for whenever there is a chance of getting the ones i wear to the gym dirty. but what am i going to do with all the other old running shoes i've found stashed in the garage?

donate them to shoes for planet earth of course!

as they describe themselves on their website, shoes for planet earthwith headquarter in Sydney

our 'soul journey' is to help mankind by improving his well-being whilst minimising his consumption of non-renewable earth resources.  shoes for planet earth's aim is to encourage exercising and healthy lifestyle, to improve hygiene and disease control and facilitate the 'feel good' intangible benefits of giving and receiving.

now all you have do is gather up all your old runnings and find a shoes for planet earth donation drop off near youclick here.
